JUAN RANIERI

Juan Ranieri, Argentine Painter, was born in 1969 and studied architecture at the University of Buenos Aires. His work has received prizes in numerous contests and salons, has participated with great success in art fairs both in Argentina and abroad, and forms part of many important Argentine collections, including those of the Fortabat, UADE, Merrill Lynch, Telecom Argentina, Bunge Argentina, and the Quinquela Martín Museum. His work falls into a genre that one might denominate as magic realism of the River Plate (Rio de La Plata). The work primarily focuses on the urban phenomenon in general terms, and the architectural object in more specific terms, and the impact both have on the psyche of the ordinary human being (who is ever-present in the work, though not necessarily visible). With strong structural compositions and a highly detailed technique, Ranieri delves into the contemporary sociopolitical darkness with a critical and often sarcastic reading.
